French

French

  I will be talking about French today. What I will be talking about is what we are learning which is the two verb system. The two verb system is when you take an infinitive verb and put it in a sentence with a conjugated verb. An example of this is j'aime regarder la tele. J'aime would be the conjugated verb and regarder would be the infinitive verb. This sentence means ''I like to watch TV.''
          The two verb system can be used to describe what someone likes to do, where they like to go, etc. We have not learned much about this verb in French yet so I am afraid that is all I could say about this topic. My opinion about this topic we are learning about is that I like it but for some people that do not know their verbs will have trouble with the sentence structuring.

Science

In science we finished up are forces and structures unit. In this unit we learned about the different types a structures,  the advantages and disadvantages of the structure types, force diagrams, internal and external forces, different types of bridges, and structural efficiency. The different types of structures we learned about were solid/mass, frame, and shell structures. Force diagrams are simple pictures using arrows to illustrated how forces are acting upon an object. The external forces are live load and dead loads.

The internal forces are compression, tension, torsion, and shear. The different types of bridges that we learned about were beam bridges, arch bridges, and suspension bridges. Structural efficiency is a relative number that compares the maximum amount of mass a material can hold divided by the mass of the structure itself. For example a bridge hold 200kg and it weighs 100g, first you convert 200kg into grams which would be  200 000g. Then you divide 200 000g by 100g, the structural efficiency is 2000.

What We're Doing In Math Class:

In math class, we have started a new unit on mean, median, and mode. We learned what they are and how to find each. Today I will show you how to find each.

The word mean is another word for average. To find the mean of the numbers 9, 23, 45, and 88 you would add them all together then divide that number by four because you have four numbers( 9+23+45+88=165 ÷ 4= 41.25). The mean for these numbers would be 41.25. Median tells you the middle number. To find the median for the numbers 18,36,49,57 and 12, you first need to order them from least to greatest(12,18,36,49,57). Then you would cross out the same amount of numbers on each side until you reach the middle. The median in this group of numbers is 36. the mode is the most frequently occurring number in a group of numbers. In the numbers 26, 19,26,and 59 the mode would be 26.

Thank you for listening to my presentation.

Art

Hey guys, today I’ll be talking about what we are learning in Art class! We have art class every day 2 and 5. We are learning Chinese water coloring and calligraphy in art class. We also have to do our April quotes; they are obviously due at the end of April. We were also learning Chinese symbols; Cotter Mr. told us all about them, and how they relate to our religion Christianity.

Mr. Cotter is a very well-known teacher. He is very unique because he writes quotes on the board every once and a while. He is also a strong believer in God. He is also a very nice teacher and doesn’t get mad as much. In art class right now we are finishing all that is due.

                                           Blog Post

My blog post today is on competitive girls basketball. On our team there is: Sidney, Veronica, Georgette, Augustina, Ashley, Kiran, Jaira, Alycia and I. This year so far we have had 4 games and won them all, we also have a game tonight here against Christ The King. This year we have versed Balmoral Hall twice, Linden Christian and Holy Ghost. Our team is currently first place amongst all the teams we versed. Our last game was at Linden Christian and it was probably the hardest because before they versed St.Maurice they were number one, but after when we versed them we won with a score of about 32-44. This year is my first year playing basketball and I will do it next year again too. Thank you for listening to my blog post!

                               Math
The blog post that I am going to do is about math. In math we are learning all about circles! We are learning to calculate and do the diameter of a circle, the circumference of a circle, and the radius of a circle. We are also learning about the area of a circle. The formula for the area of a circle.
R=4cm

 A= 50.27
This example shows that pi multiplied by the radius squared is the area. What radius squared means is that in this example it would mean 4 multiplies by itself. So, 4*4 = 16cm.
You can find the circumference by . The formula for finding the circumference but you know the radius is An example is:
r = 4.2
c =
c = 26.4cm
You can find the diameter of a circle by knowing the circumference . The formula would be pi multiplied by the diameter.
 Example:
D = 3cm
C=
C =
C = 9.4 cm
Thank you, and I hope you enjoyed my blog post on math.

Lit Circles

The blog post that I am going to present today is what my group is reading in Lit circles. The book is 262 pages long and it’s called the Penderwicks.

 So far, this book was about a man named Mr. Martin Penderwick, a professor with his 4 daughters Rosalind, Skye, Jane, and Batty. Their mother died from cancer 2 weeks after Batty was born. Rosalind was 12 years old. Skye was 11 years old. Jane was 10 years old and Batty was 4 years of age. They owned a dog named Hound.

 The book started off with Mr. Penderwick, his four daughters, and Hound heading to Cape Cod to a mansion called Arundel with a guest cottage owned by Mrs. Tifton. They were going there for summer vacation.

 In the middle of the trip, their dad lost the map. They asked an old tomato man for directions. When they arrived it was more than they expected. They didn’t know it was a mansion, so they were very surprised. There was also a beautiful garden. In the garden, a boy named Cagney, the gardener of Arundel worked there.

The next day, Skye sneaked into the garden because she wanted to explore. She had to sneak in because she was a stranger to the new place. She talked to Cagney until Mrs. Tifton came out and Cagney helped her hide by telling her to hide behind a bush. She overheard her talking to Cagney about a garden contest. After Mrs. Tifton was gone, she bumped into a boy with straight brown hair and freckles on his face. She thought that he was an ordinary boy, and said that they need to escape from the snooty Mrs. Tifton. She finds out that he was Mrs. Tifton’s son and she was very scared.

 She felt bad, so she discussed it with her sisters Jane and Rosalind. They decided that Jane would help Skye apologize and they would make an apology party for Jeffery. The following day, the apology was accepted and he was able to come to the party. Just before the party, Rosalind and Skye argued about the cookies Skye accidentally broiled them. Skye said that Jeffery’s mom was snooty again. At the same time, Jane came in with Jeffery. Their dad also came out of the room.
